Scope of Work:

EGH shall prepare, manage and administer all duties associated in the process to deliver an accurate ENERGY STAR Performance Statement with rating. This includes uploading all data onto ENERY STAR Portfolio Manager system. 

  • Load electricity usage data for the current rolling 12 month period
  • Load gas and other fuel usage data for the current rolling 12 month period
  • Load water and sewer usage data for the current rolling 12 month period
  • Load all facility and other relevant data needed for benchmarking
  • Establish your property's baseline

A 10 percent reduction in energy costs is equivalent to increasing ADR by $0.83 for limited service hotels and by $2.45 for full-service hotels.

Details of ENERGY STAR Benchmarking:

  • Allows hotels of all types (provided it’s atleast 5000 sq ft) to benchmark and track energy performance
  • Properties are scored on a 1-100 scale, relative to similar properties nationwide
  • Ratings take into account weather, building size, and other operational characteristics
  • Hotels achieving a score of 75 or higher are eligible to earn the ENERGY STAR, indicating they have achieved a superior level of energy performance

  • Almost 4,000 hotel properties have benchmarked using Portfolio Manager
  • Over 400 hotels have earned the ENERGY STAR
  • Leading online travel companies Travelocity (Green Directory) and Orbitz (eco.orbitz.com) have enhanced their online hotel listing to allow travelers to easily identify properties that have earned the ENERGY STAR
  • Marriott International is engaged in an organization-wide benchmarking effort and has earned the ENERGY STAR for more than 275 hotel properties across the country.
  • In 2008, Best Western International and Wyndham Worldwide joined ENERGY STAR, each making a senior-level commitment to energy efficiency as a key component to their organization-wide green strategies.
